Summary

Donna (Emma Wray) works as a nursing auxiliary.

Separated from her husband, Phil (Phil Glenister), she's been struggling to make ends meet as she tries to bring up her daughters Shirley (Vicky Connett) and Rhiannon (Amanda Riley).

She tries to build a new life with Roger Graham (Hamish Clark).

She gets advice and support from workmate Bridget Groves (Claire Perkins) and neighbours Marina (Elizabeth Berrington) and Alan (Tony Robinson).

Eventually, Donna's relationship with Roger comes to an end and she has to find new ways of coping with life as a single mother.
