Sandy Bennett (Diane Keen) and Oliver Pryde (Martin Jarvis) have been living together happily for six years. Then, as Sandy begins to hanker for marriage and motherhood, Oliver comes under increasing pressure to 'name the day'.
At the end of the first series, the pair are married and setting off on their honeymoon.
By the end of the third (and final) series, Sandy is expecting their first child.
Other regular characters include Oliver's parents (Keith Marsh and Margaret Courtney) and Sandy's parents (John Harvey and Barbara Lott).
