1: The Clock (14 Mar 74)

Mr. Grainger is 65. He's afraid that Grace Brothers are going to force him to retire. He goes into Mr Rumbold's office and hears a clock ticking. He decides that it must be the dreaded cuckoo clock which is presented to long-serving employees when they retire.

2: Cold Comfort (21 Mar 74)

There's a fuel shortage because of a strike. Grace Brothers economise by turning off the central heating in the store. The staff have to come up with ways of keeping warm.

3: The Think Tank (28 Mar 74)

Sales are falling, so a 'think tank' is set up suggest ways of improving trade. A fashion show is suggested.


4: Big Brother (4 Apr 74)

An increase in shoplifting results in the introduction of surveillance cameras in the store. Rumbold finds that he can see everything that's going on in every part of the shop floor. The staff become increasingly unhappy about this.

5: Hoorah For The Holidays (11 Apr 74)

Grace Brothers is closing for a fortnight so that the store can be redecorated. The staff are asked to take their summer holiday during the weeks when the store is closed.

The staff aren't keen on the idea until Mr Grace offers to pay to send them all on a package holiday. Everyone agrees to cooperate.

Then they discover that their free holiday isn't quite what they expected.
