It's the Ropers' 24th wedding anniversary and Mildred is very surprised when George gives her a posh carriage clock. He bought it cheap from a man in the pub. Then he hears that the Fourmiles have been burgled.

The Ropers take in a travelling salesman as a lodger.
4: The Unkindest Cut Of All (5 Dec 77)
Ethel and Humphrey are coming round for a meal, so George has been ordered to be on his best behaviour. Unfortunately, he's "forgotten" to pay the electricity bill.
5: The Right Way To Travel (12 Dec 77)
The local Conservative Association are organising a cheap holiday to Majorca. Mildred "persuades" George to apply to join.
6: The Dorothy Letters (19 Dec 77)
It looks as if George has been writing love letters to someone named Dorothy.
7: No Business Like Show Business (26 Dec 77)
Mildred is appearing in a local pantomime as an ugly sister. When she goes down with laryngitis on the day of the performance, a standin has to be found.
